Which eCommerce Platform Fits Your Business

Choosing the right eCommerce platform is an important decision. Rather than recommending a particular technology by default, we look at your product catalogue, order volumes, content requirements, integrations, internal processes and future plans before recommending the right solution.

WooCommerce Website Development

WooCommerce provides extensive flexibility for businesses that want greater control over their online store and website content. Built on WordPress, it can be particularly effective for businesses requiring bespoke functionality, content-rich websites, advanced integrations or a highly customised shopping experience.

Our WooCommerce developers can create everything from streamlined retail stores to complex eCommerce platforms with thousands of products and connections to external business systems.

Shopify Website Development

Shopify provides a secure, hosted eCommerce environment that can be an excellent choice for businesses looking for a streamlined platform with straightforward day-to-day management.

We create custom Shopify websites that reflect your brand, provide an intuitive customer experience and make managing products, orders and promotions straightforward for your team.

Bespoke eCommerce Development

Some businesses have requirements that don’t fit comfortably within a standard eCommerce setup.

For projects involving complex workflows, specialist ordering processes, unusual product configurations, advanced B2B requirements or extensive system integrations, we can develop bespoke eCommerce functionality around the way your organisation operates.

Not Sure Which eCommerce Platform to Choose?

You don’t need to decide between WooCommerce, Shopify or a bespoke solution before speaking with us. We’ll assess your requirements and recommend the platform that provides the right balance of functionality, flexibility, management and long-term scalability. Read our blog post about multiple platforms or contact the 2Cubed team and we will be happy to discuss the various eCommerce platforms we build stores on.

eCommerce Website Case Study: Pacdog

Pacdog has been selling pet containment, training and safety equipment since 1989. The company supplies pet fences, bark collars, remote trainers and dog trackers to dog and cat owners across Ireland, from its base in Graiguenamanagh, Co. Kilkenny.

The challenge

Pacdog set out to modernise the site, move the full shop onto WooCommerce, and make it easier for customers to pick the right product for their dog. The migration had to carry products, customer accounts and past orders across without loss, and the new structure had to support long-term organic growth.

What we built

  • A WooCommerce store built around the four Pacdog ranges: pet fences, bark collars, remote training systems, and dog trackers and cameras
  • A full migration of products, customer accounts and order history onto the new platform
  • Product pages carrying specifications, imagery and supporting detail, responsive on phones, tablets and desktop
  • Product filtering and dog collar size guides, so owners can narrow the range down to the right fit
  • Buying guides and information pages sitting alongside the products
  • An SEO-ready structure, with tidied URLs, headings and metadata, internal linking between categories and guides, and page speed work

The result

Pacdog runs a scalable eCommerce store that kept its historical data and gives customers clearer product discovery.

eCommerce Website Features Built Around Your Customers

The right functionality can make it easier for customers to find products, complete purchases and return to your store while making everyday eCommerce management more efficient for your team.

We select and develop features around the requirements of each project rather than adding functionality simply because it’s available.

Payments & Checkout

Provide customers with a simple and secure route to purchase through payment options such as Stripe, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay, alongside promotional discounts, gift vouchers and streamlined checkout experiences.

Products & Shopping Experience

Help customers find the right products through intuitive category structures, advanced search, product filters, variations, customer reviews, related products and wish lists.

Orders, Stock & Fulfilment

Simplify order management with stock control, shipping calculations, Click & Collect and integrations with inventory, warehouse and fulfilment systems.

Advanced eCommerce Functionality

For businesses with more complex requirements, we can develop subscription products, multi-currency stores, trade accounts, B2B pricing, customer-specific pricing and other bespoke purchasing workflows.

Marketing, SEO & Analytics

Understand and improve performance through Google Analytics 4, conversion tracking, Google Merchant Centre feeds, structured data and SEO-friendly product and category architecture.

Every feature is considered in the context of the wider customer journey, ensuring your eCommerce website remains easy to use even as its functionality becomes more sophisticated.

Bespoke Solutions

B2B & Wholesale eCommerce Web Design

Selling online isn’t limited to traditional retail. We develop B2B and wholesale eCommerce websites for manufacturers, distributors, suppliers and trade businesses that need more sophisticated purchasing functionality.

Instead of forcing your existing sales process into a conventional online store, we can create an eCommerce platform around the way your customers already buy from you.

Depending on your requirements, your B2B eCommerce website can include:

  • Trade account registration and approval
  • Customer-specific or tiered pricing
  • Wholesale price lists
  • Minimum order quantities
  • Quantity and volume discounts
  • Restricted product catalogues
  • VAT and tax requirements
  • Purchase order functionality
  • Credit account purchasing
  • Quick and repeat ordering
  • Customer order histories
  • ERP and stock management integration

Moving repeat trade orders online can give customers greater control over purchasing while reducing the amount of manual order processing required by your team.

For businesses serving both consumers and trade customers, we can also develop solutions that support B2C and B2B eCommerce within the same platform.

eCommerce Website Integrations That Connect Your Business

As an online business grows, manually transferring product, stock, customer and order information between different systems becomes increasingly inefficient.

We develop eCommerce integrations that allow your website to communicate with the software already running your business, reducing duplicate data entry and helping information move accurately between systems.

Stock & Inventory Synchronisation

Connect your online store with inventory, warehouse or EPOS systems so stock information can remain synchronised as products are purchased online and through other sales channels.

ERP & Order Processing

Integrate your eCommerce website with ERP systems to automate the movement of product, customer and order information between your online store and internal business processes.

CRM & Customer Data

Connect customer registrations, enquiries and purchasing information with your CRM or marketing systems, giving your team a clearer picture of customer activity.

Accounting Integrations

Reduce repetitive financial administration by connecting relevant eCommerce order and transaction data with the accounting systems used by your business.

Shipping & Fulfilment

Integrate your website with shipping, warehouse and fulfilment providers to streamline the process from an online order being placed through to dispatch and delivery.

Bespoke API Development

When an off-the-shelf integration isn’t available, our development team can create bespoke API connections between your eCommerce website and compatible third-party systems.

The result is an eCommerce platform that doesn’t operate in isolation, but becomes part of the wider technology supporting your business.

eCommerce Pricing

How Much Does eCommerce Website Design Cost in Ireland?

An online store is priced on what it has to do, not on how many pages it has. Two stores with the same product count can differ several times over in cost once trade pricing, stock synchronisation or a migration from an existing platform come into it. So we price every store on its own requirements.

What moves the cost of an online store

  • Your product count, and how much of the product data already exists in a usable form.
  • Whether you are starting fresh or migrating an existing store, along with its customers, orders and URLs.
  • Your platform. Shopify, WooCommerce and a bespoke build carry different development and licensing costs.
  • Checkout requirements: payment methods, delivery rules, VAT treatment and the markets you sell into, which matters for Irish stores shipping to the UK and across the EU.
  • Trade functionality, where you need it: trade accounts, customer-specific pricing, purchase orders and minimum order quantities.
  • Integrations with the systems already running your business, such as stock, EPOS, ERP, CRM or accounting software.

The costs that continue after launch

An online store carries running costs a brochure website does not. Hosting, maintenance, platform and app subscriptions, payment processing fees and ongoing SEO all continue once you are trading. We set those out alongside the build quote, so the figure you plan around is the full one.

How we quote

We start with a conversation about what you sell, how you sell it and what already exists. You then get a written quote with the scope, the stages and what is included, with the running costs listed separately. We put nothing in writing until we know what the store has to handle.
